Edward S. Curby, 900 Estabrook, died in Ransom Memorial Hospital. Mr. Curby, 66, had been in failing health three years. Services were held at Dengel and son Mortuary. Rev. Leopold Hoppe officiating. Mr. Curby, a lifelong resident of Ottawa, was born March 13, 1896, the son of Charles and Lizzie (Lathrop) Curby. He married Lorena C. Sutherland Jan. 28, 1933 at Harrison, Mo. After graduation from high school Mr. Curby started work for the Railway Express. He served in the Medical Corps in the U.S. Army in World War I. Later he was in the roofing business for 30 years, retiring in 1955. Mr. Curby was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and was charter member and past commander of both Warren Black post No. 60, American Legion, and Memorial Post No. 5901, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are the widow, one sister, Mrs. Flora A. Sherman, and three brothers, Ralph H., Oliver C. and Walter A., all of Ottawa. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Fund.
