Henry was born about one mile south of Decatur.
For a number years, Captain Brady served with the local militia company. He is said to be one of the best tacticians and disciplinary officers in Texas, and enjoys the confidence and high esteem of the superior officers at all state encampments of the military guard. During the Spanish-American War, he served as First Lieutenant of Co. H, 3rd Regiment, U S Volunteers, as regimental adjutant.
