Hilda A. Barstow, 95, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012. Hilda was born to Ola and Emma (Karlsson) Pearson on July 20, 1916 on a farm south of Windom, KS. She married Ervin Barstow on December 24, 1937 in a double ring ceremony with her sister Tillie and husband Charley Myers at Andover Lutheran Church in Windom, KS. She retired from food service at Westview Manor in Derby, KS and had also worked many years at Kiowa County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, KS.

Hilda was a gentle soul and a loving mother. She was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church in Greensburg and a member of Andover Lutheran Church in Windom.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; parents, Ola and Emma Pearson; sisters, Tillie Myers, Effie Demoret; brothers, Carl Pearson and Albert Pearson. Survivors: daughter, Val and her husband Dan Gean of Derby; nieces, Barbara Breitenbach of Wichita, Millie Davis and Margie Bell, both of McPherson, Dee Stricker of Hutchinson, Cindy Bonebrake of Abilene, TX; nephews, Dale Myers of Ada, OK, Floyd Pearson of McPherson.

Viewing: 2-8pm Thursday with family greeting friends from 5-7pm at Smith Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Graveside services: 3pm Friday, April 13, 2012, Bean Cemetery, Little River, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Andover Lutheran Church, 117 Dakota Rd., Windom, KS and Cross of Glory Lutheran Church, 1315 S. Rock Rd., Derby, KS.
