Funeral services for James H.Ray, 311 West Jefferson
street, who died at his home at noon today after an illness; of two years, are planned at 2 p. m; Saturday at the Ray, residence. Rev. Robert W. Morris, pastor of the West Street Christian church, will be in charge and burial will be in Fairview cemetery. The body will be returned
from Young's Funeral home to the Ray residence Friday where
it will lie in state: Mr. Ray was 88 years old. Born May 19, 1858 in Scott county, Mr. Ray was the son of James F. and Elizabeth (Keith) Ray and was one of 11 children. He came to Tipton county 70 years ago. Sept. 17, 1884, Mr. Ray married
Rosa C. Ludlow in Atlanta and they were the parents of six
children, four of whom are living. They resided on a farm
northwest of Tipton until 1920, when they moved to Tipton. A
farmer, Mr. Ray was a member of the Christian church in
Scottsburg. Survivors are the widow; four children, Mrs. A. N. Wooldridge, 303 South East street, Miss Atha Ray, at home, Floyd E. Ray, residing on the home farm, and Walt E. Ray of Birmingham, Mich.; one brother, Robert Ray, of Scottsburg;, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
