Joseph O. Boner, 83, passed away peacefully to the Lord on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at his residence in Whiteland, just as he had wished.

He was a lifelong farmer and horse trader of northern Johnson County.

Joe was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Greenwood to Joseph Oliver and Ruth A.(Wilson) Boner.

He married Anna Mayre Egenolf on May 23, 1959. They were married for 37 years, where she was his partner in life and on the farm.

Joe also worked for Egenolf Machine in Indianapolis.

You may know of a child or as a child receiving a silver dollar from a gentleman at a restaurant or at an event. Most likely it was from Joe. He gave out the coins for more than 45 years.

He was an avid lover of fox terrier dogs and had several in his lifetime. He enjoyed spending time on the porch in his swing and with his family and friends at gatherings on the farm. Joe routinely met his friends for coffee throughout the years at various locations. He was a longtime supporter of 4-H and FFA in Johnson County.

Survivors include three sons, Joseph O. (Linda) Boner of Greenwood, John O. Boner II of Whiteland and Jeffrey O. Boner of Indianapolis; a granddaughter, Julia Sara-Mayre (Mike) Wright of Worthington; and a great-granddaughter, Joelee Anna-Mayre Wright.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna Mayre (Egenolf) Boner; a brother, John Boner; and five sisters, Elizabeth Sciscoe Harlan, Oma Boner, Ruby Fraker, Doris Wolf Black and Jean Newhouse.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rocklane Cemetery near Greenwood.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Joseph O. Boner Memorial Fund, to benefit the Johnson County 4-H and Agricultural Fair, 5811 Rocklane Road, Greenwood, IN 46143
