Verona H. Thomas, 84, of the 1300 block of Gust Lane, died Sept. 23, 2000, at Chesapeake General Hospital.

Born in Norfolk County, she was a member of Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Norfolk.

The widow of Luther C. Thomas Sr., she is survived by five sons, Luther C. Thomas Jr., Johnnie M. Thomas, Arthur Lee Thomas, Randolph Thomas and Rudolph Thomas; a sister, Florence Hall; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A funeral will be held at noon Wednesday at Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. John Dorgan and her nephew, the Rev. Peter Batts. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at noon today where the family will be from 7 to 8 p.m. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
