Joe Bennett Passes

News of the death of Mr. Joe Bennett of Latta was received in Dillon with sorrow. Several years ago Mr. Bennett was engaged in the live stock business in Dillon and had many friends in this section. He moved to Dillon from McColl and later from Dillon to Latta. When stricken with apoplexy several months ago he was a traveling salesman for a Macon concern.

Mr. J. F. Bennett died here Sunday morning after a lingering illness. He had an apopletic stroke some few months ago and had been a sufferer ever since though at times he sufficiently improved to be up in the house and occasionally go out for a ride. He bore his suffering with fortitude, never complaining. He has had several light attacks since the first. His last attack came nearly three weeks ago and from this he never rallied. He was born in Marlboro County June 1868. He died April 27, 1919. At the time he was taken sick he was traveling for G. Berned Co., of Macon, Ga. He was a consistent member of the Methodist church. Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. W. B. Stackhouse, of Little Rock, Mrs. Clyde Bethea of Latta and Miss Eva Bennett. Also one brother, Mr. K. D. Bennett and three sisters, Mrs. J. S. Covington and Misses Maggie and Lou Bennett of Marlboro County. The burial services were conducted at the grave in Magnolia Cemetery, by his pastor, Rev. John Graves.
