MRS. M. E. SOWDERS [SOWDER]
ENTERS INTO REST

Death came this morning at 2 o'clock to ease the long and patient suffering of Mrs. M. E. Sowders [Sowder], of 810 East Seventh street, one of the first settlers in Galena. Death was due to the third stroke of paralysis and her condition was such that during the last three days the end was momentarily expected by her sons, brothers, sisters and numerous grandchildren who were constantly in attendance. At the time of death Mrs. Sowder was entirely helpless except for being able to move her left arm. The three strokes of paralysis were sustained within a period of two years.

Had she lived until the second of next February Mrs. Sowder would have been 75 years of age. With her husband she settled in East Galena 33 years ago and she resided there continuously. Her husband, W. R. Sowders [Sowder], died seventeen years ago. Mrs. Sowders [Sowder] is survived by two sons, Gain [Gaines] Sowders [Sowder], of this city, Frank Sowders [Sowder], for a number of years a member of the Joplin police force, two sisters, Mrs. Susan Bradley, of Barry county, Missouri, Mrs. Agnes Eaton, of Newton county, Missouri, and two brothers, Ben Ping, of this city, and Lige Ping, of Oklahoma.

The funeral will be held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. S. S. Hageman, and burial will be in Galena cemetery.
