She was born August 19, 1916 in Latrobe, a daughter of the late John P. and Sophia Karpiel Voycik.
For fifty-eight years she was a resident of Clarksville and mostly recently resided at the Evergreen Assisted Living Facility in Waynesburg. At one time she worked as a housekeeper at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Zuback was a long time member of the St. Thomas R.C. Church in Clarksville, where she sang in the choir, led in reciting of the rosary and served as president of the Christian Mothers and secretary-treasurer of the Rosary Society. Currently she is a member of St. Ann Catholic Church.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, family gatherings, and visiting with friends and neighbors at the Clarksville Senior Citizens Center.
Mrs. Zuback was intensely proud of her Polish heritage and on two occasions visited the villages in Poland where her parents were born. She took great pleasure in seeing Polish born, Karol Wojtyla become Pope John Paul II.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Kokish in 1959, her second husband, Edward S. Zuback in 1986, three brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Barshick of Canonsburg, and Rosetta Spade and her husband, John of Waynesburg; a son, John Kokish and his wife, Mary Gail of Arnold, MD; eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Starr of Parma, OH; two brothers, Tony Voycik of Pittsburgh and John Voycik of Waynesburg.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 23 in the Behm Funeral Homes, Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where a Blessing Service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 10:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Waynesburg with the Rev. Richard J. Thompson as celebrant. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations to your favorite charity.
