Annie was the daughter of Judge Thomas Sloan Bell and Keziah (Hemphill) Bell. She died 31 July 1900.

HEMPHILL- On the 31st inst., Annie R., wife of H. Clifford Hemphill, aged 60
years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from her late residence
NO. 233 North Darlington street, on Friday, the 3d inst. Meet at the house at 3
o'clock. Interment at Oaklands Cemetery.

*the 'inst' in the obit most likely should have been 'ult' meaning the previous
month. If the paper was dated August 1, 1900, the printed version would mean
she died on August 31 instead of July 31, 1900.

Last night, Annie R., wife of H. Clifford Hemphill died at the age of sixty
years. She was a daughter of the late Judge Thomas S. Bell, of the Courts of
Chester County, and was one of a number of children, only one of whom, general
William Hemphill Bell of Arvada, Col., is living.

for several months she had been an invalid and confined to her home on North
Darlington street.

Mrs. Hemphill is survived by a number of children, as follows: Martha Bryan, wife
of W.A.S. Ingram; Anna, wife of Henry Speakman, Berwyn; Mrs. Ethel Cunningham,
Marshallton; Robert, who is employed by the Adams Express Company; Cassie and
Roskell, who are at home.

Yesterday the funeral of the late Mrs. Clifford Hemphill was held at her home on
North Darlington street, the services being conducted by Rev. Arthur Rogers,
rector of the Church of the Holy Trinity. Interment was made at Oaklands'
Cemetery. The bearers were William A. Ingram, Clarence Cunningham, Robert
Hemphill,John R. Glenn, Jefferson Ingram and Harry Speakman.
