George Arthur Pyper, 73, died June 27, 1990 in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a courageous battle through open heart surgery.
Born, June 17, 1917, Midway, Utah, to James Thomas and Clarissa Van Wagoner Pyper. Married Dorothy Ruth Young; later divorced. Married Maxine Nelson, October 14, 1955; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Served his country in WW II. Worked for A & Z Produce, and in electrical maintenance for the LDS Church. Active member LDS Church, he served in numerous church positions, including a Bishopric, and two missions with his wife. He and Maxine were currently serving at Temple Square.
Survived by his wife, Maxine; two daughters, Mrs. Robert ''Sheri'' Walter and Mrs. Dan ''Debbie'' Lambson, all from Salt Lake City; two sons, David (& Lindie), Mt. Pleasant, Utah, and Dennis (& Nancy), Ohio; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters Mima Rasmussen and Alda Charlton; and a brother, Clyde Pyper.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 2nd, 11:00 a.m. at the Garden Heights No. Ward, 2220 Fisher Lane (2935 So.). Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 So. 2300 East, and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the services. Interment: Midway Cemetery, Monday at 1:30 p.m.
