Death Takes Cotton Township Lady on Friday Evening

Mrs. Lauretta W. Madison Had Resided In County All Her Life

Mrs. Lauretta W. Madison, 80, a fine old lady of near East Enterprise, died at her home there about 7:30 p.m. last Friday evening following a long period of failing health.

Mrs. Madison was born in Switzerland county on December 14, 1871, the daughter of Andrew J. and Rosanna Morrison Works. On November 29, 1893 she was united in marriage to John Madison and this union continued until his death on March 21, 1947.

Surviving are the following children: Miss Mary Madison, at home; Fred of near Allensville and James of near Fairview. She also leaves a half-brother, Tom Works of near Fairview and three half-sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Moore of Allensville; Mrs. Lulu Bailey, of Indianapolis and Mrs. Pauline Peters, of Vevay.

Mrs. Madison was a loyal member of the East Enterprise Methodist Church and during her long and honorable life in the county had gained and held the esteem and respect and esteem of many friends.

The funeral services, with Rev. Robbins officiating were held at her church at ten o'clock Monday morning and interment was made in the Bovard Cemetery, with Haskell & Morrison in charge.
