Luman W. Quinn, for six years a resident of Englewood, passed away at home, 345 South Normal Pkwy., June 3, 1915. He was born at Mt. Vernon, O., February 22, 1849, moving with his family to Indianapolis in the early fifties.

When under the age of fifteen he enlisted as a musician in Company E, One Hundred and Twenty-eighth regiment, Indiana infantry; later served as a private with Sherman in the army of the Cumberland.

He was captured during the battle of Atlanta, Aug. 19, 1864, and confined in Andersonville, Macon and other prisons until February 27, 1864, finally being discharged June 19, 1865, at the close of the war.

The funeral services were held Saturday, June 5, from his home, with Rev. C.G. Kindred of Englewood Christian church and members of the George G. Meade post of the G.A.R. officiating. Interment at Valparaiso, Ind., his boyhood home. His wife, Mrs. Nydia Quinn, and four daughters, Mrs. J.D. Worden, Misses Merle, Gladys and June Quinn, survive him.
