Jean was born on 29 June 1946, the only daughter of Alison Isabella Bartley Patterson and George Pringle Low Bayne. She went on to marry William Dobson in 1965 and together they had 5 Children: Elizabeth Dobson Grieve, Edward Dobson, Ian Dobson, Sharon Dobson and Jean Dobson Pryce. Jean took ill in 1985 and died in 23rd January 1991 aged 44 years from Cancer. She is now buried in Priestfield Cemetery, Blantyre with her husband William, who died in 2008 aged 63 years.
