Elizabeth Nutt was the daughter of Adam Dickey and Elizabeth MacPherson, natives of Scotland. She was born in the fall of 1740 (exact date not known), in Chester, New Hampshire. At the time of her birth Chester was considered part of Hillsborough county, as was Londonderry and some other towns. Later, on 27 April 1769, the King's Council at Portsmouth passed a bill defining the counties and towns within, and Chester and Londonderry became a part of Rockingham county.

In 1759 Elizabeth Dickey married Samuel Nutt of Chester and together they had seventeen children born between the years of 1760-1788. All were single births (no twins), and all of the births are on file at the Bureau of Vital Records, Department of Health and Human Services, Concord, New Hampshire.

Elizabeth Nutt died at age 59. At the time of her death she and her husband Samuel Nutt were living in the home of their son Joseph and his wife Jenney in Newport, N.H.

Elizabeth's gravestone lies next to two of her grandchildren, Benjamin and Patty Nutt (children of Joseph and Jenney Nutt), in the southwest corner of the cemetery.
