Barbara was born the third of seven children to Albert and Shophronia Corpening in North Carolina. This may have been in Burke Co. Her elder siblings were; Isaac N. and Amanda. Her younger siblings were; Jacob, Abe R., Cynthia and Leah. Barbara married Romulus Monroe Setzer 19 Nov 1867 in Caldwell North Carolina. His parent was W.A. Setzer and his mother, Eliza.
Barbara had seven children; William Knox,Ellen Lee, John Albert, Mattie Laura, Behler Alphonso, Romuus Leonidas and Charles Moyles. Romelus L. was born Feb. 3, 1878. Barbara was widowed by 1880. She worked as a housekeeper. She moved to Pierce County, Washington State, where she died.
