Born August 17, 1922 near Sulphur Springs Texas.

Ray attended school in Brownwood Texas. He received a BBA from Daniel Baker College of Southwestern University where he served as President of Student Body. He did graduate work at TCU and the University of Houston.

He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and fought in the battle of Bataan and the defense of Corregider until it's surrender. Ray was a prisoner of war for three and a half years in the Philippines and in Japan.

Ray married his childhood sweetheart, Lillian Marie Elms on October 9, 1947. They had three children - Randy, Danna and Brenda.

He was a school teacher and coach in Mullin and in Ruidoso New Mexico. He was branch manager for the General Adjustment Bureau in Brownwood and in Abilene. He was also a co-founder of the Barnett & Proctor Company which had offices in West Texas.

Ray was an Honorary Admiral in the Texas Navy by Govenor Preston Smith.

Ray loved his family. He had a charming and friendly personality which made him very, very special to those whose lives he touched.
