Horace was the son of Asa S. Bell and Iva Starr Bell. His parents are buried in Bell Cemetery. He married (1) Mary Pearl Womack, and (2) Gladys Aline Bowdoin on 1 August 1940 in Anderson Co, TX. Although he shares a stone with Gladys, she is actually buried in Garden of Memories. He was residing in Houston, TX at the time of his death there from smoke inhalation when his mattress caught on fire. He was survived by his wife, Gladys; one daughter, Ina Pearl Bell; one son, Rex Bell; his father; one brother, Uriah Bell of Buckley Field, CO; three sisters, Irma Bell and Fay Bell Elliott, both of Palestine, and Iva Clarenda Bell Black of Fort Worth. His obituary appeared in the Palestine Daily Herald, Monday, 1 February 1943.
