Baker died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, in Decatur.
He was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Newport to Louie and Susie Zuber Baker. He married Edith Estelle Stephens on Aug. 31, 1941, in Prospect. Baker was a retired switcher for Mitchell Energy and a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chico, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Chico Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randall Baker; sisters, Novella Barto and Vermell Ainsworth and a brother, Louie Baker.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Dale Baker and wife, Jamie, Tom Durrett and wife, Jayney, and Stan Baker; daughter, Jane Baker Robinson and husband, Les; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Darrell Hale, Brandon Baker, Shawn Robinson, Bill Grisham, Sean Baker, Tom Durrett and Kris Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Bordner and Charles Wolfe.
