Ellender married Samuel Harvey Pierce on May 1, 1904 and they had two children: Bessie Maude (1905-1968) and Samuel Allison (1908-1941).

Waco Services for Mrs. Pierce a former resident of Waco. died in a Alice Hospital Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The body will be returned to Waco Thursday for funeral services at Wilkirson Chapel with Dr. A J. Holt officiating burial in Rosemound Cemetery.
Mrs. Pierce had lived in Alice for the past 10 years at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wesley Moore, She died after a long illness. Survivors include her husband of Alice; her daughter; four grandchildren and nine great grand children.
