Mrs. Mary J. Bell Died in Rosedale Sunday,
Mrs. Mary Jane Bell, aged 86, who lived in the Spring Creek neighborhood south of Wellsville many years ago, died Sunday October 18th, at her home in Rosedale. The body was brought to Wellsville Tuesday morning for interment in the Wellsville cemetery beside the body of her husband, James Bell, who died in 1886.
Mary Jane Wilson was born in Iowa July 30, 1828. She was married to James Bell and in 1869 they came to Kansas, locating in Franklin township. After Mr. Bell’s death she moved to Ottawa, and lived there until six years ago when she moved to Rosedale, Kansas, where she had made her with her son, Harvey Bell, and Daughter, Miss Meda Bell.
Six children survive: Miss Meda Bell, Rosedale, Kansas, Mrs. Mark Lee, Chanute, Kansas, Mts. Clara Chesboro, Kansas City, Missouri, Mrs. Claude Oakley, Coffeyville, Kanas, Harvey Bell Rosedale, Kansa and Mrs. Louis Baxter, Rosedale Kansas. Two daughters are dead.
The deceased was a member of the Church of God, and the funeral services were conducted by Jas. R. Petermam, of the church, at Rosedale, Monday evening.
The body was accompanied to Wellsville by Mrs. John Cain and niece of Chanute, Mr. And Mrs. Mark Lee of Chanute, Mr. And Mrs. Louis Baxter and daughter, Dora, of Rosedale, Mr. and Mrs. Chasbor of Kansas City, Miss Meda Oakley of Coffeyville, a niece Alva Branneman, a grandson and Mrs. U. S. Hannum of Bonner Springs.
