Former Brick Plant Superintendent Ill Since Nov. 4
William H. Batley, 70, former superintendent of the old Nesch brick plant here, died at 10:15 o'clock this morning at the local hospital. He had been at the hospital since Nov. 4.
Born Sept. 13, 1870, in England, Mr. Batley was a locomotive engineer in his early life. He came to Pittsburg from Paola in 1921 and became superintendent of the brick plant, holding that position until the plant closed a number of years ago. He held a membership in the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen & Engineers.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Edith Batley; five sons, Alex Batley of the home, William S. and Harold Batley, both of Fort Scott, Ted Batley of Boston, Mass., and Dick Batley of 502 East Twenty-Second in Pittsburg; a daughter, Mrs. Dortha (sic) Tims of Cherokee; a sister, Mrs. Alice Woodbury of Oklahoma City, and nine grandchildren.
