Mrs. Nellie J. Botkin
Mrs. Nellie Jane Botkin, 81, of Headwaters died Friday, Jan. 21 at Waynesboro Community Hospital. She was a daughter of John E. and Barbara Crummett Armstrong and was born at Headwaters July 17, 1890. The widow of Martin E. Botkin, who died in 1959, she was a member of the Headwaters Presbyterian Church and the Women's Circle there. Survivors include two sons, Ray M. Botkin of Staunton, with whom she resided, and Roy Armstrong of El Monte, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The Rev. Jack E. Maxwell conducted the funeral Monday, Jan. 24 from the Headwaters Presbyterian Church. Interment was in the Headwaters Cemetery with arrangements by Obaugh Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Ronnie White, Wesley Frampton, Stanley Mitchell, M.A. Funkhouser, Dayton Varner and Ralph Fadeley. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Hodge, Earl McCray, Peyton McCray, Gene Mitchell, Sandy Hooke, Byron Pitsenbarger, Gilbert Pitsenbarger, O.E. Burns and Gilmer Ervine.

The Armstrong reunion met as usual on the the first Sunday in June at North River Dam (Augusta County) having a large crowd in attendance. All report a good time with plenty to eat. Mr. Charles Armstrong and family of Charlottesville attended the Armstrong reunion ... Mr. and Mrs M.E. Botkin stopped a short time with Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Simmons on their way back from the reunion.
