Graveside services for Wanda Gale Walsworth, 76, of Thackerville were held Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Thackerville, with Bro. Murray McMurray officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Marietta.
Born Feb. 5, 1937, at Thackerville, the daughter of William Henry "Dub" Stricklan and Lennie Brush Stricklan, Wanda passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, in Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.
A lifelong resident of this area, Wanda had been employed as an administrative secretary for Love County Health Center in Marietta, retiring in 1991. She and Shurburne Paul Walsworth were married in Gainesville, Texas on July 3, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 1992. She loved shopping, camping, playing bingo and taking trips to Las Vegas, but most of all she enjoyed Sunday dinners and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Walsworth of Thackerville; daughter Debbie Harter and husband, Bill Brown, also of Thackerville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathryn Good of Granbury, Texas, Carolyn and James Lucas of Thackerville, and Donna and Phil Whitaker of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Serving as casket bearers will be Mike Sylve, Danny Daniel, Jeff Mayo, Quentin Yoho, Arvill McNutt and Shawn Brandle. Honorary bearers are Dr. Tom O'Connor, Johnny Sylve, Tad Hall, Dutch Langston, Phil Whitaker, Rick Stephens, Richard Barker and J.W. Sampson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
