Josiah was the husband of Mary Anne (Boleyn) Burger (1841-1910). He was the son of Abraham Burger and Sarah (Raub) Burger

After the war Josiah came west and settled in Whiteside Co., Illinois and then moved to the westeran part of Cass Co., Nebraska
