Well Known Hardy Man Suffered
Heart Attack After Morning of
Golf; Died Suddenly at Home
A well known Hardy resident for many years, Elmer M. (Tinus) Petersen died suddenly following a heart attack Sunday about noon. He had been in apparent good health, and played golf at Country Club course, Superior, Sunday forenoon. He became ill at the golf course but returned home and was getting ready to go out to dinner when he dropped dead in the bathroom of his home. He was 68.
Mr. Petersen was born in Waterloo, Iowa, and came to Nuckolls County with his parents in 1906. He farmed near Nora and also near Cadams for a few years and in 1930 moved into Hardy where he operated a service station. The family lived in Superior for about five years, also managing a service station here, then moved back to Hardy. He had a bulk plant and tank wagon service after returning to Hardy, but sold his business several years ago and has been semi-retired, being employed lately as bookkeeper for the Pedersen Lumber Co., at Hardy.
Mr. Petersen was a member of the Hardy Union Church, American Legion, The Veterans of World War I, all of the York Rite bodies of Masonry and Tehama Temple Shrine at Hastings.
Surviving are his wife, the former Hilda Swanson; one daughter, Mrs. Jack Radde (Norma) of Avalon, Calif.; two sons, L. E. (Gene) Petersen of Layfayette, Calif., and Clinton of Denver; one brother, O. W. Petersen of Lincoln and two sisters, Mrs. Hubert Henry (Katherine) of Belleville, Kan., and Mrs. Joe Wyatt (Esther) of Hardy.
Services were held in the Union Church at Hardy Wednesday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Vernon C. LeMon officiating, and interment was in the Hardy cemetery. Megrue Funeral Home was in charge of the service.
