John Phillips, age 91 years, was born in Tennessee November 15, 1837; came to Arkansas in 1850, and died at his home near Wharton April 23, 1928. Served two years and seven months as a Union soldier during the Civil war, being discharged at Fort Smith August 10, 1865, and had resided in Madison county most of the time since. It can be said of him that he was a good soldier and a good citizen. We will miss him.
