Dr. Robert Earl Brinson passed quietly away Wednesday afternoon, September 28, 1927 at seven o’clock at the family residence on Myrtle Ave from a peculiar ailment that baffled the skill of the most learned physicians of the country. The sickness began the last of May and in June he was taken to an Atlanta hospital where he remained several weeks and then was brought home where he lingered until death relieved his sick body.
Dr. Brinson was a son of Dr. J.W. Brinson and Mrs. Ida Sikes Brinson. He was born and raised in Wrightsville and he graduated from Emory University in 1914.
He was survived by his wife, Sarah Lovett Brinson, and four children: Robert, Mary Jane, Edison, and J.W. Brinson; also four brothers and one sister: Dr. J.W. Brinson Jr., Judge W.C. Brinson, Mr. D.T. Brinson all of Wrightsville, Dr. C.E. Brinson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Mrs. R.B. Bryan Jr. of Wrightsville.
His funeral service was held at the Wrightsville Methodist Church and conducted by Rev. T.M. Luke, Dr. Rufus D. Hodges, Presiding Elder Reese Griffin, and Rev. D.R. Piper who preached the sermon. Pall bearers were Messrs. L.A. Lovett, Gainor Fulford, George Gannon, R. L. Kent, H. B. Sanders, J.N. Hall, R.R. Martin, and T.V. Kent. The honorary escort included Dr. T.L. Harris, Dr. J.G. Brantley, Dr. J.M. Johnson, Dr. H.B. Bray, Dr. P.D. Bedingfield, and Dr. T.E. Vickers.
Dr. Brinson was a Shriner and a member of the Wrightsville Methodist Church.
