Ed worked the pipeline crews early in his life. One job took him north up through PA He then returned to Madisonville where he took employment in Madisonville Texas with John H. Pyle at the Elite Cafe, the local bus station, working the night shift. He later married Leona Pyle, daughter of John H. and lived the remainder of his life in Madisonville. He took the job of freight agent in Madisonville for the Red Arrow Freight Line of San Antonia Tx. which he worked until retirement at 62 years of age.
Ed was a member of the First Baptist Church of Madisonville and an active community member. He was a life member of the Madisonville Vol. Fire Dept which included a tour of duty as the Chief. If fact he was the chief when the Madison County Court House burned. He and the crew fought that fire long and hard to no avail. Dickey Bates was the local that set this fire; he was convicted and sent to prison. Ed was also a member of the Masons and served eight years on the Madisonville City Council.
He died in the Madisonville County Hosp. and is buried in the Madisonville City Cemetery. Day Furnal Home handled the arrangements.
