Roy Adams, Jr., 84, of Memphis, MO, died February 12, 2007, at his home in Memphis, MO.

Jr. was born in Scotland County, MO, on April 20, 1922, the oldest son of Roy and Hallie (Beard) Adams.

When Jr. was in the seventh grade he had to quit school and started farming because his dad was in ill health.

On April 4, 1943 in Kahoka, MO, Jr. was united in marriage to Marvelle Kutzner and to this union seven children were born.

In 1952, Jr. went into partnership with Boyd Croley and was in partnership with Boyd for 32 years. They raised row crops and Angus cows (which he loved to do). After semi-retiring in 1986, Jr. worked for different farmers for a number of years. He served on the Rutledge School Board for several years. Early years he was a substitute Mail Carrier. His hobby was being able to take his grandkids fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marvelle; two sons, Roy Paul and John Earl Adams, three grandsons, and one great-grandson.

Survivors include his children, Barbara Jean Pender and husband, Larry of Burlington, IA, Neomi June Gould and husband, Ed of Rockford, IL, Mary Alice Rasmussen and husband, Bill of Mountain Home, AR, Richard Lee Adams and wife, Sue of Kirksville, MO, Betty Sue Lodewegen and husband, Warren of Memphis, MO; one brother, Charles Adams and wife, Margaret of Gorin, MO; a sister, Lela Thomas of Earlville, IA; three sisters-in-law, Marianna Lee of Williamsburg, VA, Roberta Fogle of Jefferson City, MO, Patricia Baker of Ojai, CA; two brothers-in-law, Paul Eldon and Ronald Keith Kutzner, both of Keokuk, IA; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and friends.

The family has suggested memorials to the donors choice and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were February 16, 2007, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with Rev. Charles Hammack officiating. Musicians were Joan Hinds, organist, and Angela Westhoff, soloist. Pallbearers were the grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Boyd Croley, Allen Adams, and Timothy Votaw. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO
