James Aaron Hamill, well known farmer, died suddenly Saturday night at 11:15 o'clock of a heart attack at his home in the Opelika community.
Mr. Hamill became ill while in bed, and went into the yard for fresh air. He was stricken while in the yard, and died before a physician arrived.
He was born on July 29, 1895, in this county near Opelika, and had resided in the county all of his life. He was married to the former Miss Sallie Richards on October 22, 1921.
He was a member of the Barton's Chapel Church.
Surviving are his wife; one son, James Glenn Hamill, with the U.S. Army occupational forces in Japan; three daughters, Miss Malla Fay Hamill, Miss Elaine Hamill and Miss Nadine Hamill, all of Opelika; father, G.W. Hamill, Murchison; three brothers, G.C. Hamill of Murchison, H.G. Hamill of Big Springs, and T.W. Hamill of Houston; three sisters, Mrs. Winnie Abney of Murchison, Mrs. Pauline Barton of Englewood, California, and Mrs. Oleta Newton of Dallas.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Barton's Chapel Church, with Bro. G.C. Mangum officiating. Interment was in the Liberty Cemetery.
The Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
