Founder of Poth Dies Recently at 81

Funeral services for a former DeWitt county resident, A. H. Poth, 81, retired farmer at Poth, Texas, and co-founder of the town which bears his name, were held Wednesday at 10 a. from St. Ann's Catholic Church at Hochheim. Burial was in the family burial plot at Hochheim.
Mr. Poth was found dead Tuesday morning at his residence at Poth, his death due to natural causes, according to a coroners verdict.
Mr. Poth moved to Poth in 1900 and was the towns first postmaster. He operated a mercantile and gin business and later became a farmer and rancher. He retired several years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lena Poth; a daughter, Mrs.Tom Ralph of Center; three sons, Jake and Denny of Houston; and Oscar of San Antonio; five brothers, E. B. Of Poth; Richard, Louis and Arthur of a Yoakum; Charles of Elgin; and Ewald of San Antonio; and two sisters, Mrs. Elvira Bunton of Hochheim, and Mrs. Clara Leissner of Victoria.
