from The Pricers of South Salem, Ohio Remembered:

John Pricer (also known as John C. Pricer, Jr.), farmer, saw mill operator and logger, born May 31, 1822 in Ross County, Ohio; died December 8, 1859, Pricer's Ridge, Paint Township, Ross County (buried South Salem Cemetery); married Jane Brown (born December 13, 1828, Ross County, Ohio, died March 8, 1908, Brown County, Kansas – Jane was the daughter of William Brown and Martha Rittenhouse) on December 21, 1848 in Ross County, Ohio by Reverend Hugh S. Fullerton. It does not appear that John used the suffix Jr., or the middle initial "C," but this designation was used by family members to distinguish between John and his uncle, John C. Pricer, Sr. (who used the suffix "Sr.). John and Jane were listed as members of the Salem Presbyterian Church on the earliest surviving congregation roll, dated April 1855. The death of John must have been unexpected, as he purchased land from David Pricer with the Deed dated September 27, 1859 (Ross County Land Records, Vol. 26, page 556). Also, in his Estate, debts are shown to his father Henry, but none to John Pricer, Sr. who was the Executor. It appears that John, Jr. and his uncle, John Sr., were personally close, based on many surviving documents.
