Elton Raleigh "Tommy" Tucker, 76, of Blackshear died Monday (18 DEC 2000) at home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home in Blackshear with the Revs. Richard Jeffers and Larry Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Waycross.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Surviving are his wife, Florris Leverett Tucker of Blackshear; two daughters, Dona Cox-Cosgrove of St. Marys, and DeLon Warner of Nahunta; one son, Tommy Tucker of Brunswick; one step-daughter, Sheila Shaw of Valdosta; one step-son, Sammy Thompson of Waycross; two brothers, Dick Tucker and Lonnie Tucker, both of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Tucker was a native of Dade County, Fla., and lived in Blackshear for the past 27 years. He was a hairstylist, winning international awards, and was retired from the Department of Transportation. He was a verteran of the U.S. Army who served during World War II, and who was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the Europe-Africa ME Campaign, the American Campaign, the Army Commendation Medal and the Rifle Marksman.
