Word has been received by Harold Fernald of the death of his mother Mrs. Abbie Straw Fernald, which occurred at the home of her daughter, Miss Mabel A. Fernald, 56 Essex street, Marlboro, Mass., Sunday evening, March 31, at the age of 88 and seven months. Mrs. Fernald was the widow of the late Augustus J. Fernald. They lived on a farm at Holts Mills and their eight children were born and brought up in Garland. Mrs. Fernald was a hard-working woman, very devoted to her home and children, a kind neighbor and loved by all who knew her. After Mr. Fernald's death she sold the farm and went to live with her daughter. She leaves two sons, Walter of Vineyard, N. J., and Harold of Garland; five daughters, Mabel of Marlboro, Mass., Bertha of Brooklyn, N. Y., Maud Austin Parkman, Ruth Johnson and Gladys Lee of Dexter; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Harold Fernald's residence, Holt's Mills Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
