Clifford L. Downard, Galesburg Chapel, 85, 1371 Jefferson St., Galesburg, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born March 31, 1921 in Mercer County, Illinois the son of James L. and Agnes Lory Downard. He married Ruby Jones in Columbia, S.C. on May 6, 1944.
He is survived by his wife, and two daughters, Rose Morris, Galesburg and Nancy (and William) Randall, Woodhull, IL. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one half brother.
He attended Galesburg schools and worked for the CB & Q and Burlington Northern Railroads for 33 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Galesburg Horse Shoe Club for 30 years, Galesburg Railroad Museum, and the Older Americans of Knox. He served in the United States Army in the Phillipines.
Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Military Rites conducted by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
