UTAH PIONEER OF 1847 IS DEAD AT BEAVER

Beaver - July 1 - Susannah Gusten Ollerton who died here recently was born 23 May 1832 in Indiana. In 1847 she came with her parents to Utah, in Captain Clawson's Company. She was married to James C. Sly, a member of the Mormon Battallion at Salt Lake City March 25, 1849. Shortly afterwards they were called to help settle Sanpete county. After living there a few years they moved to Levan, Utah. While living there in the early 60's. They were the parents of seven children.

At Chicken Creek, Mar. 28, 1865, Mrs Sly was married to Seth Ollerton and they were called to help settle Thatcher, Ariz. To them were born three children. Mr. Ollerton died Oct 26, 1897.

In July 1903, Mrs. Ollerton came to live with her son, Thomas Sly, at North Creek near Beaver, Utah.

While living in Ariz. she was President of the Primary Association. She had also done temple work. She was a member of the Red Cross and did much knitting for that organization.

She died June 20, 1919. Funeral services were held in the Beaver East Ward June 22 under the direction of Bishop Robert B. White, testified to the courage and faithfulness of the deceased. She is survived by Moderna Sly, Harris, Calif.; Kathleen Sly, Hofins, New Mexico; Susie G. Darmun, Phoenix, Ariz. and Thomas Sly of North Creek.
