Emil Schaedig was baptized 24 May 1896 by Rev. Joel David Druckenmiller at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Moltke. His sponsors were Emil Schmeckel, Hermann Tosch, and Auguste Doebler.

Emil was confirmed 20 March 1910 by Rev. Joel David Druckenmiller at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Moltke. His memory verse for life was Psalm 62:2,3.

The 1920 Moltke Township federal census shows Emil, age 23 lived with his sister, Auguste Schaedig Bruder. Auguste's husband, Fred Bruder died in 1918. She needed help on the farm and raising her family as a single mother.
