Betty Jean Boelling, 90, life long resident of the Herington, died Sunday, June 10th, 2007, at the Herington Municipal Hospital. She was born on February 8th, 1917, in Herington, the daughter of W. Glenn and Marion (Flynn) Young.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM, June 13th, 2007, at the United Methodist Church, Herington, with Rev. Roy Nelson, officiating, assisted by Rev. Shawn Baird, Rev. Robert Starburg, and Pastor Eric Dannefer assisting.
Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, at a later date.
Friends may call at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home - Herington Chapel, Tuesday, June 12th, from 2pm to 7pm; and the family will receive friends from 7pm until 8:30pm, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Boelling was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Herington United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women, the Esther Circle, Past President 1965-67 Chapter FC of the PEO Sisterhood and became a Golden Girl April 2007. She was a 50 year member of Esther Chapter # 96, Order of the Eastern Star, a chartered member of Assembly #4 Rainbow for Girls, Domestic Science Club, and several bridge clubs. She graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1935. She was the first director of the Herington Meals on Wheels program.
She married Ralph C. Boelling on September 14, 1940, in Herington, he preceded in death on October 29, 1973; she is also preceded in death by a brother Bill Young, and her parents.
She is survived by a daughter Jarolyn Schlesener (husband-Mike) of Dalhart, TX, two (2) sons: Roger Boelling (wife-Helene) of Herington, and Ross Boelling (wife-Lynnette) of Tonganoxie, Kansas, a sister-in-law Orena Young of Littleton, CO; eight (8) grand-children (Allison & Chris, Eliabeth & Matt, Tim & Julie, Lori & Randy, Leslie & Michael, Melissa & Eric, Benjamin, Rebecca); and eleven (11) great grandchildren (Logan, Spencer, Ryan, Kayci, Emily, Maddison, Cooper, Brandon, Nathan, Naomi,Claira).
