Jake J. Green
Jake J. Green passed away on February 17 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. F. Dierman where he has spent the last 10 years of his life. He was born on February 28, 1866 in Boone, N. C., and passed away at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 20 days. He came to the West when about 20 years old and in February 19, 1892 he was married to Annie Laura Baker at Moscow, Ida. To this union ten children were born, eight girls and two boys, all of whom are living and were with him at the time of illness and passing except Elyn Gaertner, who was ill at her home in Hood River, Ore.
Mr. Green came to this county in 1902 in a covered wagon before the railroad was built and homesteaded about four miles west of Eureka.
While raising his family he still had time for hunting and fishing that he loved so well. Last fall he got his buck while hunting in the Mud Lake country.
He had 41 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Mr Green will be missed by his many friends who called him "grandpa," as he was a great pal to all the young folks.
Services were held at the Baptist Church, Thursday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. F. L. Lewno officiating. Interment was in the Tobacco Valley cemetery.
