James Rufus Ryals of the Edgefield Community near Clayton, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at his brothers' home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 79. Funeral services for Mr. Ryals will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Adams Chapel Methodist Church. Visitation will be held in the church beginning at 12 noon until service time. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Kent Funeral Home of Clayton directing. Survivors include his brother, Jack Ryals, Edwin; two sisters, Mary Helen Trammell, Edgefield and Nellie Gordon, Oxford; several nieces and nephews; numerous cousins and friends. The family wishes to express their gracious appreciation to Wiregrass Hospice of Eufaula and Mid South Home Health and the staff at Family Practice in Abbeville. Kent Funeral Home of Clayton, (334) 775-3403, is in charge of arrangements.
