Marquita L. Theroux, age 86, of East Lansing, died Friday, October 23, 2009. Marquita was born December 12, 1922, in Lansing, MI, the daughter of David Roy and Bessie Elizabeth (nee Smith) Bassett. She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Juanita Nelson and Bernita Marshall; and by a brother, Wendell Bassett. Marquita was the first wife of Frank Theroux and the mother of their daughter, Nancy. Nancy (John Molo) Theroux and a granddaughter, Shannon Molo, survived her. Marquita was a graduate of Eastern High School. She lived in Los Angeles, CA and Sarasota, FL, before moving back to Michigan. Marquita had 22 years of service with Jacobsen's, where she was a Fashion Coordinator. Marquita, known as "The Piano Lady," was a very gifted musician and singer who could play any song by ear. She always brought a lot of joy to family, friends and people she had just met. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at 12 Noon, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing. There was visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Nashville, MI. Because of her love of animals, memorial contributions were suggested to Broken Road Rescue, Inc., P.O. Box 205, Bath, MI 48808.
