--CHESTER - Mr. John William Simril, 84, of 106 Shamrock Drive died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, at Medowhaven Rehabilitation and Specialty Care.
--A graveside service will be 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery with Dr. Joe Brooks officiating.
--Born in York County, Mr. Simril was a graduate of Oakley Hall High School and an Army/Air Force veteran of World War II. He was in banking for 50 years and was president of Commercial Bank prior to its merger with American Bank and Trust Co. He retired as city executive of First Citizens Bank. He served on the board of Chester County Natural Gas Authority for 26 years and the Catawba Regional Development Corp. for 10 years. He was past president of the Chester County Chamber of Commerce and had served on the board of directors of the S.C. Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church since 1933 and served as a deacon and elder for 60 years.
--Surviving are his wife, Margaret S. Simril; his son, William S. Simril of Marietta, Ga.; his daughter, Lane Stogner of Hartsville; and two grandchildren.
--The family will receive friends at the home.
