Graveside services for Betty Hamlett Fryar Meyer age 79, of Carrollton and formerly of Palestine and Hide A Way Lake will be at 3:30 P.M. Monday at Land of Memory Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Hay officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. Mrs. Meyer died Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Brookhaven Nursing Center in Carrollton. She was born February 13, 1930 in Palestine to Allen Lee and Clara Frances Taylor Hamlett. Mrs. Meyer was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. Mrs. Meyer was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Clarence David Fryar, Jr., in 1969 and her second husband Bill Meyer in 1989 and two sisters, Virginia Salmon and Aliene Douglas. She is survived by her daughter Sheila Ann Butler; son, David Fryar; grandchildren, Stephen Butler and wife Michele, Stacey Swearengen and husband Jimmy, Bradley Fryar and Andrea Fryar; and great grandson, Cade Swearengen. Honorary pallbearers will be Les Dietz, Terry Lindsey, Jerry Taylor, Sam May, Darryl May, David Meaux, Ronnie Averitt, Stephen Butler and the members of the 1946 graduating class of Palestine High School.
