Mr. A. D. Vandevanter, of Hamilton, Loudoun county, who was in Richmond Saturday to attend the Grand Lodge of Masons, which convened Tuesday night, was overcome by gas in Murphys hotel and was found unconscious in his bed Sunday at noon. Hon. Keith Bolling Wise, member of the house of delegates from Loudoun county, gave as much of his blood as was thought necessary to save the life of his friend, but in spite of the heroic efforts of Mr. Vandevanters physician, he died Tuesday afternoon at St. Elizabeths hospital. The victim of the tragedy was well known by Dr. W. Fred Dowell and Mr. Will Tavenner, of Manassas.
