On November 19, 1884, Lydia “Lydee” Ellen Cotter married Nathaniel Jones.
Nathaniel and Lydia lived in the North Salem, Mo., community for awhile. Then
they heard that there were lots of jobs in the West. They bought team and
covered wagon and headed West probably in 1888. He got a job in the logging
business in Montana, then went to
Pueblo, Colorado, for awhile. He hauled gold bullion near Pike’s Peak. They
moved back to Missouri, near Purdin, until 1905 or 1909, when they moved to the
place north of Brookfield, west of New Garden church, where they lived until
their deaths. They possibly lived in the Grove Hill district on the Moyer farm
before moving to the New Garden area.

Nathaniel Jones and Lydia Cotter had the following children: Nena (1886-1961);
Harrison (1890-1955); Earl (1892-1961); Ray (1894-1983); Bessie (1896-1953); Ica
(1898-1988). Nathaniel and Lydia are buried at Rose Hill Cemetery at Brookfield.
