Charlene was a life member of the AMVETS Post No. 1988 in Baldwin, and she was the past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the AMVETS Post in Mesick. Charlene had also been the president of the Mesick Chamber of Commerce for several years.
In her spare time, Charlene enjoyed being outdoors, working in her yard and tending to her red roses. Most of all, Charlene loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On Dec. 19, 1969, in Lansing, Charlene married Richard L. Burl.
