Harold Gordon Cole, 81, husband of Barbara (Rollins) Cole, died Oct. 23, 2009, at a local hospital. He was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Maurice A. and Vera M. (Eddy) Cole. After serving with the U.S. Navy during World War II, he worked for Bangor & Aroostook Railroad for 45 years. He owned and operated Camp Moosehorns at Northwest Pond for 50 years, and worked for Dover-Foxcroft Police Department and Piscataquis County Sheriff's Department for several years. Harold was a member of Nollesemic Masonic Lodge No. 205, Millinocket; Chadbourne Merrill American Legion Post No. 27, Dover-Foxcroft; and Shirley B. Carter Veterans' of Foreign Wars Post No. 4298, Dexter.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara of Dover-Foxcroft; a son, Rodney W. Cole and his wife, Debbie, of Stetson; two daughters, Judy A. Thompson and her husband, Kennie, of Sangerville and Kristy L. Nutting and her husband, Brian, of Millinocket; a brother, Allen L. Cole and his wife, Betty, of West Sebois; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, several brothers and sisters.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, in the family lot at Sebec Corner Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Dodie Sheffield officiating. (Bangor Daily News 10/24/2009)
