Walter E. "Bud" Baldwin, 74, of Lacon, father of a Streator woman, died at 2 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lenz Memorial Home, Lacon. Chaplain Bill Cordes will officiate.


Burial will be in Lacon Cemetery.


Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the memorial home.


Born April 20, 1929 in Thomas, Okla., he was the son of Roscoe and Mabel (Kitchen) Baldwin. He married Ruth Crank on April 6, 1958, in Lacon. She died Aug. 31, 2001.


Surviving are daughters, Kathy (Mrs. Ben) Biba of Streator; Joanne (Leonard) Cattan and Lisa (Mrs. Jeff) Schmitt, both of Lacon; and Sue (Mrs. Don) Orman of Chillicothe; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bernice Bornsheurer of Chico, Calif.


He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosalie Shafer.


He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War.


He was employed by Lacon Woolen Mills and 24 years with Martin Marietta Gravel Pit in Chillicothe, retiring in 1981.


He was a member of Walter Guede American Legion Post #593, Lacon, and Illinois Valley React.
