MRS. J.P. LEGGETT'S MOTHER DEAD
Mrs. Eagan an Old Resident of Carthage Buried Here Today
Mrs. Martha A. Eagan died Sunday morning at 3:20 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dora Shoopman, three-one-half miles northeast of Jasper, and the remains were laid to rest at Park Cemetery, Carthage, this afternoon at 2:30, the funeral having been conducted from the Shoopman home at 10 a.m. by Rev. Mr. Ferguson.
Mrs. Eagan was well known in Carthage, having resided here the last fifteen years. She was afflicted with paralysis on Sunday February 8, while at the home of her daughter near Jasper. She was born June 16, 1825 in Limestone county, Alabama and married J. F. Eagan at Warrensburg February 11, 1844. Her maiden name was Martha A. Harrison. Her husband died April 9, 1871 and was buried in Carroll county, Missouri. Mrs. Eagan was the mother of five girls and four sons, seven of whom are still living, namely:
Mrs. Nancy E. Funk of Kansas City; Mrs. J. E. Armitage of Belton; Mrs. J. G. Armitage of Carthage; Joseph Eagan of Douglas county; Mrs. Dora Shoopman of Jasper; Mrs. Joe Leggett of Carthage and B. M. Eagan, whose whereabouts are unknown to the relatives here.
